Living Off-Grid Just Outside the Big City
Thomas Levy had a dream, to build a “green” energy-efficient house, and to power it primarily with renewable energy, allowing him to avoid bringing in electrical lines. His dream became a reality in 2007, and he was looking for a good way to tell his story. Along came the Living Lightly Project. Upon reading an article in the Ottawa order klonopin clonazepam 1mg no prescription Citizen, Tom contacted David Chernushenko and asked him to drop by the house — just outside the suburbs of Ottawa — with a film crew and help tell the story. Here it is. Tom tells us what he did, why he did it, and how it’s working out so far.ÂÂÂ

Ahh, this is exactly what I needed to see today. Thank you David for finding and sharing these stories, and thanks Tom for taking concrete, inspiring action for the environment! Your kid is lucky to be exposed to such innovation and care.

Perhaps I am mistaken but I think Tom attended Carleton University during the same time as I was there and it’s great to see other fellow Carleton Alums doing their part for the environment. Being in the country ourselves, we inquired about wind turbines as well as solar panels and for the moment it is a bit too expensive to convert but eventually we hope to be pretty well self sustained with no help from the grid whatsoever – we are already in the process of converting to a ground source heat pump which we, in time, intend to have the fan run on power generated by solar power effectively cooling and heating the home with no grid electicity. This video only increased my resolve to get this done sooner rather than later. Thanks Tom and David.
